Clear your mind, and the work will follow.

Little books can do heavy lifting too.

It's been a big 2019 so far for people writing the books we need. I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the irrepressible Austin Kleon's new book Keep Going. Austin has one of the most incredible work ethics of anyone around, and his latest book (you should check out his others too) is a users' manual of sorts for your own creative self.

Austin's books often end up in the twee self-help sections of bookstores, and that's shame because his writing is much more than the glib rah-rah platitudes you find near the cash register. On a personal level, his newspaper blackouts inspired me to keep doing The Thing I Needed To Do at a time when doing anything at all was the last thing on my mind.

Keep Going is a practical guide to ensuring that all the trouble and strife in the world doesn't overwhelm your drive to do the great things you know you're capable of. Think of it as the missing operations guide to getting the machinery inside your skull running as smoothly as it can.

If you're in the US, you can get along to his incredible criss-crossing book tour. If you do, make sure he signs your book with one of the skeleton cowpokes. I love them.

I stole this from Austin's book. Like a you-know-what.
