For a supposedly quality broadsheet newspaper, The Age seems to employ a lot of tabloid-level sub-editors on their website. Headlines like this (from the front page of The Age’s website today) make it evident that the online Age and the print Age are two very different things.
So why continue with the ruse? Fairfax should rebrand the website and out it out under a web-only masthead (as they do with Brisbane Times), and start all over again with The Age. And this time, they should make at least some attempt to hold true to the traditional Age values.
Fairfax needs to stop providing tabloid answers to broadsheet problems.
