It’s not a sexy part of design, but it is essential that you organise your ideas, especially for large projects. You might have better ways of doing this than I do, but I tend to create a ‘job bible’ in which I collate reference material, clippings, photographs, mind maps and so forth. I’ll even go so far as to find a photograph of a person I think of the 'The User’, that I can focus my mind on what that person want, how they think, what car they drive etc.

This one’s for a business we were involved in launching last year. It has everything in it from first meeting notes all the way through to recommendations for furniture for the corporate fit-out.
